Garmin etrex vista c color
See details for description of any imperfections. I give it just four stars because of the very small memory, and the inability to expand it. Other than that works like a charm.
Verified purchase: Yes Condition: Pre-owned. This is a great little GPS with full color if you don't want extra memory cards or need more than the supplied 24mg that is in it. Satellite acquisition is fast after your initial setup has been done and there are more features on this unit than most people will ever access or need.
There isn't anything you can't do on the VISTA that you can do on more expensive units and customer service is great if you need it. The reason I bought this used was my state has a downloadable base map of all the public hunting areas and if you have a color GPS it will display them in color according to what kind of area it is - Waterfowl Production, Walk-in area or whatever.
It works great and the price was right. I also have a Legend but it's memory would not hold all the maps - it only has 8mg. So far I have been very pleased with this unit and would recommend it to anybody looking for a color GPS without all the frills. A very good basic unit and it has a compass that reads even when you are stationary and not moving plus very quick satellite acquisition. Read full review. Using the route recorder, this unit kept a great log of the otherwise undocumented roads I traversed in Africa.
Back at home, it also served as a great little navigator when combined with the City Navigator North America software. If you move outside these regions, you have to attach the unit to your laptop and upload the new regions s. I love the size of this unit. Recently, I stood on the roof of a building I was inspecting.
I used my Vista C to record my exact location, using the built-in waypoint averaging that allows for very good accuracy. When I got home, I was able to attach it to my computer and load the location directly into Google Earth, allowing me to see some of the surro unding buildings and landscape. There are many other little features that this trail unit has that some of the larger vehicle units, like my c, lack. I love this versatile little unit.
I know it's not the most current, but it's a great value for the price. A true "entry level" GPS unit. Good unit but not a lot of bells and whistles. I have done a ROM upgrade but there is not very much memory. There is something about color displays that make it far more "real". One thing I really love about it is the way the sky view of the land and ocean. If it is daylight the ground is yellow and the water is blue. If it is night the ground is brown and the ocean is black.
Very cool. Because I have only received it today I have not had time to see everything it can do. Your GPS limits the length of waypoint names to 10, but ExpertGPS will let you give your waypoints user-friendly names and descriptions that can be as long as you want.
