Rumor microsoft buying nokia
Its chief executive, Stephen Elop, was president of the Microsoft Office division before moving to Nokia in September. After the Windows Phone partnership was announced, shareholders pressured Elop to justify the Microsoft deal and wondered whether he was a Trojan horse.
If this acquisition rumor turns out to be true, Elop could be one of the biggest Trojan horses in the history of big business. Again, I am not saying this is true or offering any personal opinion beyond the fact that this was, by far, the most interesting thing I read on the news… well, if I do not consider the Spanish sports newspapers I read daily. Last December, he also said that Nokia would offer " an entire line of Windows Phone devices " — and we all know how that turned out: this February, Elop announced that Nokia would adopt Windows Phone as its smartphone operating system.
Murtazin also predicted that Nokia would kill off the Ovi brand that it uses used for its online store. Guess what happened this morning? Murtazin isn't the only Nokia observer to speculate about a possible Microsoft purchase of the phonemaker after Elop's move from Redmond to Espoo, but to our knowledge he's the first to put a time stamp on it.
And speaking of time-specific predictions, Murtazin has also said that Elop would resign from Nokia at the end of next year. If, however, Murtazin's latest prediction is correct and Microsoft buys Nokia this year, perhaps Elop — mission accomplished — won't have to wait that long to be welcomed back to Redmond. Indian IT services giant HCL Technologies has quietly removed some of the controversial clauses from its HR policy revealed by The Reg revealed last week, which required resigning employees to pay back bonuses.
According to the policy, employees who resign are responsible for paying back all the bonus they've received from their last appraisal cycle until their last working day LWD. A company email detailed that the LWD would be taken as 31 March , so if a staff member leaves on 3rd March , the amount paid from 1st April through to 28th February would be recovered. Does that add to our speculation? As far as RIM is concerned even though its popularity it is way behind the well-liked apple and android backed phones but together, RIM and Microsoft may stand a chance.
